Ex marito della star di 'Real Housewives NJ' accusato di aver assunto mafioso per aggredire il suo ragazzo

Tommy Manzo, ex-husband of ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ star Dina Manzo, hired a member of the Lucchese crime family to assault her then-boyfriend, and threw the assailant a “lavish wedding reception” at a deep discount in return, according to an accusa unsealed Tuesday by the Department of Justice.

U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said Tuesday that in 2015, Manzo, now 55, hired John Perna, 43, to assault Dina Manzo’s then-boyfriend, in exchange for a wedding reception for Perna at Manzo’s upscale venue the Brownstone Restaurant in Paterson, New Jersey.

Perna is a “made” man in the Lucchese crime family, according to the indictment, which means he pledged “fealty” or “allegiance” to the family “for life.”

Prosecutors allege that Perna carried out the assault in the parking lot of a Passaic County, New Jersey, strip mall on or around July 18, 2015.

Perna wielded a “slap jack,” which is a club-type weapon historically utilizzando by street gangs, in order to “inflict serious permanent injury,” according to the indictment.

In exchange for the assault, Perna held his wedding reception at Manzo’s restaurant for a steep discount that was paid for by another Lucchese associate and close friend of Manzo’s, according to a DOJ release.

The two men face charges of committing a violent crime in aid of racketeering activity, and conspiracy to commit a violent crime in aid of racketeering; Perna was additionally charged with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, while Manzo was charged with falsifying and concealing records.

At the time, Caroline Manzo also denied any comparisons between the Bravo show and HBO’s The Sopranos, which followed a fictional Italian mobster family. “We have the same Italian traditions and values because Italians are all about values. But to put us in the same bed as that? On the business side of it? Stop it. That’s nonsense.”
